Kangaroo?!?!

For the past week this kangaroo has been hanging out at my parent's house in Spanish Fork! How crazy is that? The kids were so excited to see it, but probably not as excited as I was!
The pictures are kind of blurry because they were taken on my video camera.
It is too fast for animal control or the owner to catch, so for now it is just hanging out at their place. My parents love it. It likes to relax in my mom's garden or under their trees. When it gets nervous it hops out into the field nearby.

Cora's 9 Month Pictures

I got Cora's 9 month pictures back and love them. Tammy really did a great job, especially considering that Cora wanted to crawl off every second and cried when we tried to get her to hold still for a picture.  Cora is such a beautiful little girl. She is developing such a fun personality. This is such a fun age! We actually got her pictures taken a couple weeks late since she was in the hospital when she turned 9 months. Here are a few of the pictures:
 Sweet Cora!
 So serious.
With the bunny Kim and Krychele brought her in the hospital.
 Sweet little smile.
I can't remember if she was playing peek-a-boo or just done!
Check out those amazing eyes!!

We are so very grateful that Cora is part of our family. We love her so much! She is growing up way to fast!

Random Pictures

I thought I'd post a few random pictures that I took this week.
The weather has been warm and sunny - then snowing off and on. When we get the sun, we take advantage and get out. Here are Hema and Vela at the TGP Gardens.
Hema and Vela riding horses at the TGP Farm.
All three kids riding the fake sheep at the farm.
Hema with his armor of God activity that kept him busy during conference on Saturday.
We did some shopping while Hema attended the Priesthood session. The kids love the carousel at South Town Mall.
Sunday morning we watched conference at my parents. The conference packets I made for Hema and Vela kept them pretty focused...
...until about the last half hour when they had to go dress up with Halle.
Cora and Grandpa.
For the past 6 weeks, Mrs Richins has been a student teacher in Hema's kindergarten class. Today was her last day and Hema wanted to make her a card. I have seen a few versions of this owl and so we decided to make one for her. I love pretty much any hand print art! (I saw this owl on mymixofsix - she has lots of great craft and holiday ideas you should check it out. The link is on my sidebar.)
I just wanted to include this picture of Cora because it is so cute - with her bright eyes and 2 teeth!
 Grandma Kim came to visit!
Somehow Cora figured out how to pull the front of her shirt up over her head. But then it gets stuck and she can't get it back in front. It is so funny to watch her so. She is such a clever girl.
Gabi, Jensen and Uliti came to dinner tonight. These two are about 5 weeks apart in age and it was so cute to watch them interact! What a cutie Jensen is.

Vela's First Hula Class

One of my favorite things about Polynesian culture is the dancing. It is so beautiful and I have looked forward to my daughters learning to dance since I was engaged...yeah it's been a long wait! Today, Vela start hula with my amazing counselor from my Primary presidency - Kaipo! She was a little shy at first, but warmed up and had fun. I am really hoping that she loves it and will stick with it! Here are a couple videos. It is so cute I can't stand it! (in case you can't tell - Vela is in the blue pants and shirt.)
And some more sweet moves...
At the end the little girls watched the older girls dance. This is Nessa, Vela and Kaipo.
Cora loved the music and did her own little bounce and shake in the back of the room. Can't wait for her to be old enough to dance too!
Hema wasn't sure what to make of all these girls dancing. On the way home he said, "that was so boring!'
Get used to it Hema! If I have it my way we'll be sitting through years of dance practice!!!

Cora's Developing Personality

This past week has been really interesting with little Cora. She has always been so calm and happy - but suddenly she is having tantrums and screaming when she doesn't get what she wants. She is really close to walking and wants to be down and on the move every single second. It has been interesting to see the sudden change in her temperament over the past week. She is really turning in to a determined little lady. But just when she has cried and screamed over nothing and you are about to get frustrated too, she'll do this:
Yep, she has learned to fold her arms during the prayer. Just figured it out and started doing it on her own. (And yes I really did take a picture during the prayer - it was too cute not to document!) What a little angel!!! Who could lose patience with that sweet girl?

Cora's Hair

If you know me, then you know that I LOVE to do Vela's hair. I think it is so fun everyday to do little braids or pony tails or make up crazy hair dos. I can't wait for Cora to have enough hair to do fun stuff with. Last week, I put her hair in her first pony tail.
The flower lasted about 3 seconds before she pulled it out!
She was pleased to have removed it so easily.
 Tiny little pony tail!
She could still tell that there was something else going on up there and tried and tried to pull off her pony tail!
She was pretty determined and tried and tried to figure out what was going on on the top of her head.
Then finally got ticked off that she couldn't get the pony tail off. I felt bad so I took it out. I'll have to try it again in a week or so. I guess for now she is pretty much stuck with the little wave on top of her head. Come on hair....grow already!!

Vela

My sweet Vela is so much fun! She has such a cute personality. She loves to run and play and do everything Little Hema does, but also could sit and snuggle on my lap for hours at a time. She has her own ideas about what she likes to wear everyday. She is especially particular about her shoes!
Here she is sporting her pjs and the pink boots Kim gave her. They are a couple sizes too big, but that doesn't keep her from wearing them nearly every minute of the day - even to go to sleep! She sure loves those pink boots. Thanks Kim!
She has 4 pair of pink boots and usually always picks one of them to wear each day. I tried and tired to get her to put on her church shoes, but really in the end decided some battles just aren't worth fighting. She was so pleased with herself for getting to choose her boots, she wanted me to take her picture.

If you do something to make Vela happy, she always runs over and gives you a big hug and says, "Happy birthday!" That is her ultimate compliment. She is so funny! I also love how she runs to Little Hema everyday after school and gives him a huge hug. She misses him so much while he is at school and I don't know what she is going to do when he goes to 1st grade next year and is gone all day. Vela also adores Cora. I hear her all day saying things like, "Don't touch that Cora, you are a baby and it is too big" or "Cora, you are such a sweet little baby and I am your sister."

We sure do love our sweet little Vela!!
