Happy Halloween and a Gory Tale

Happy Halloween!
(Don't worry, Vela does have a very cute peacock costume and we will post pictures later!)
Little Hema is so very excited that Halloween is finally here. Every time he has tried his costume on, he has wanted to go trick or treating and thought we were so mean that we wouldn't take him. It is so fun when kids start getting holidays! We also want to wish Hema's birth mother a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! We love you Katie and hope that you have an amazing day and year! Now for a gory tale about being cut open and organs removed.....
On Saturday night Hema (the dad) started having stomach pain. We thought he might be getting the flu since the kids had it last week. By Sunday night the pain was unbearable. Monday we went to our Dr. who ordered an ultrasound and blood work and gave Hema pain meds. The ultra sound showed no gallbladder problems and when they got the blood test results in on Tuesday morning they sent us to the ER. After many hours of waiting, they did a CT scan and sure thing, Hema needed his appendix out. Luckily it hadn't ruptured and they were able do do the surgery laproscopically. Here is Hema with his Mom after the surgery!
We were home around midnight. Hema has been sore, but is feeling so much better! Thanks so much to Josh and Laura who took the kids last minute! You are awesome! Especially you, Laura, who slept on our not super cozy couch 7 months pregnant!
(By the way, sorry to those of you who showed up to the previously mentioned USBorne bookshow, only to find no one home since we were at the hospital!)
Monday night was the neighborhood Halloween Party. Just Little Hema and I went. He had a blast and loved trying to eat a doughnut hanging from a string.
Yesterday was Little Hema's preschool Halloween costume parade and performance. So cute! We made these treats for his class.
Here is one of the songs they sang.
Oh yeah, and to add to the chaos, I left my wallet on top of my car when I left Smiths and some very nice guy found it and some of my items and dodged traffic to gather up what he could. So I had to run up to Riverton to get it from his house and then spent another hour dodging traffic trying to find the rest of my stuff on the road out in Saratoga Springs. The good news is I recovered most everything except my debit card which was easily cancelled. By 9:00 last night the kiddos and the recovering patient were asleep and I went to bed. I slept form 9:15 until 7:00 this morning! I am definitely ready for a fun filled Halloween day!
Hope your day is filled with more treats than tricks!

Becky!! HOW have you have done all of this in one week? Seriously!! My mouth is literally hanging open!

Here is to a speedy recovery to Hema!! I know it's a bit different but I had my Gallbladder out (8 yrs ago) lapriscopically and it took me a full 2 weeks to feel back to normal- day 2-3 after the surgery were definite fakers- where I thought I felt great, it got worse before it got better! Good luck!!!!

I love little Hema's costume, he looks like a natural ball player!!

Good luck and please, take it easy- miss dodging traffic for the contents of my wallet!!

Becky- your kids are SO cute and I love little Hemas costume. My youngest Isaac would be SO jealous. He is SO obsessed with football and he is not even 2 yet. I am so sorry about Hema having to get surgery. I always think that when there is one stressful event, everything else seems to happen at the same time. It is so crazy how that happens! I hope you guys have fun tonight!
