Let's talk about Katie!

I decided that since I posted about Chelise yesterday, I would post about Katie today. Katie is Hema's sweet birth mother. She just had a birthday on Halloween and with all the craziness of the day, I didn't have a chance to really post about her.
Katie is such a fun person. You can't be with her for more than 5 minutes and not be smiling and laughing. She has such a fun sense of humor. Little Hema totally has her sense of humor. He really cracks us up all of the time. (He also inherited her crazy ticklish feet and can hardly stand to get his toenails cut!) Katie is such a loving and loyal person. We have always said that the man that ends up married to Katie will be one lucky guy! She is soooo loving and kind. She also really values her family. She constantly talks about her older brothers and how much she loves them and looks up to them. A lot of people tell me that Katie and I look alike. People often comment on photos of Katie and think that it is me. We also have a freakish habit of wearing the same colors at the same time. (This has got to be the all time worst picture of me ever - but seriously who even has shirts this color? Us!)
It is funny - we look like Jr High buddies that call each other before getting together! A lady at IHOP once asked if we were twins! (We don't look like twins - it was pretty funny!) Katie is so much fun that I could hang out with her all the time - and eat sushi and frozen yogurt and shop!
We love our beautiful Katie!!!
It is interesting because most of the people who I talk to think that all birth mothers are 15 year old single girls. Neither of our birth mothers have fit that mold. Katie was 25 when she placed Hema with us. Chelise was also older and was actually married at the time and going through a divorce. Birth mothers are just like any other mothers. They come in different shapes and sizes, ages, races, educational backgrounds, religions, etc.... The one thing that they all have in common is a great and amazing love for the children that they place for adoption! We sure are grateful for sweet birth moms!
